For whatever bugs you…

Our original formula is back by popular demand.

Bygone Bugz™ was one of the first herbal alternatives to chemical insect repellents to be marketed in the U.S. We began offering this product in 1986 in response to requests from our customers for a non-toxic, chemical free formula. Our formula is made from non-toxic essential oils and GMO free sunflower or olive oil. It is completely safe and extremely effective. Many of our customers feel it works far better then DEET and that it out last most products on the market.

Bygone Bugz™ has been field tested by our company and by consumers since 1986. It is effective for most body types, offering protection from anywhere between 20 minutes to four hours depending on local environment, body type, type of activity, etc. We have received testimonials from all over the world, from customers who have found Bygone to be effective in diverse climates and regions. We are constantly amazed by the many uses customers come up with for Bygone Bugz. The most recent rave reviews have been as a shaving lotion. We tested it and if fact it works great! Especially on camping trips were warm soapy water is often hard to come by, Bygone Bugs saved the day. The other uses people have written us about are as follows: toothpaste, (just a little bit goes a long way), analgesic rub for fatigues and sprains from strenuous work or exercise, hiking, biking, etc., a quick, topical antiseptic for scratches, bites, or small cuts, a lubricant for power tools (it’s true…a little on you..a little on the chain saw), a quick waterproofing for hiking boots, and of course to ward off flying insects.

Many people ask us about Bygones effectiveness against tics. Our formula does contain the two primary essential oils that are recognized as effective in repelling ticks, geranium and eucalyptus citriodora. However, due to the way tics travel, they fall from leaves, brush off onto clothing, hide in the folds of your clothing, our advice is to fully launder clothing and shower from head to toe after being outside. These essential are deterrents, they are not insecticides. They do wear off eventually. There is also a myth that DEET kills ticks. Studies show that DEET is not effective against ticks. Studies show that the only chemical that kills ticks is permethrin.

Bygone Bugz is now prepared with Vitamin C rich Rose Hip oil and Vitamin E rich Sunflower oil, both of which are standard ingredients in natural sun protection formulas.

According to new EPA guidelines (Pesticide Registration Notice (PR) 2000-6) a product can be marketed as repellent as long as the ingredients are exempt (minimum risk) under section 25(b) of FIFRA. To learn more about Pesticide Registration Laws see FIFRA at http://www.epa.gov/PR_Notices/pr2000-6.pdf

INGREDIENTS: GMO-free sunflower oil, essential oils of eucalyptus, rosemary, birch, peppermint and geranium.

New Ingredients: Organic coldpressed sunflower oil added for its rich source of vitamin E, and coldpressed rosehip seed oil for its rich source of vitamin C. These oils are considered to offer mild to medium sun protection and are primary ingredients in natural SPF formulas.

Analgesic: cools the body, cools the bites. Our original formula is back by popular demand. Bygone Hikers Friend is the original formula prepared from olive oil, eucalyptus, rosemary, wintergreen, peppermint and lavender.

Customer Testimonials

I am a scout leader from Victoria BC Canada. I have used your Bygone (Bugz) Herbal Outdoor (Formula) for many years and have found a lot of people asking me to supply it to them. I have sent it to friends and used the product in Florida as well. My wife and I are actively involved with youth and the outdoors . . .Victoria is in the middle of the rainforest...and I have tested your product on lots of bugs.

Best Regards, RW. 12/30/2008

Dear Lakon Herbals:
Thank you for calling back to confirm my order for 6 bottles of Bygone Bugzz. My family and I were so thrilled to find Lakon Herbals and your incredible product again! Not only is it the SAFEST product on the market, but it is also the most EFFECTIVE one, as well. The only times my family and I suffered insect bites were when we ran out of Bygone Bugzz.

I've bought several insect repellents there after running out of yours, each time describing to the store owners what I REALLY hoped to find on the shelves was Bygone Bugs.

Anyway, best of luck and I'm sure you'll be hearing from us again! Thank you,
M.M. 6/30/99

Dear Lakon:
The Bygone Bugzz product saved the day for the team Nantahala. The bugs were so bad as I've ever seen them. While most teams were getting eaten alive or wearing bug mesh clothing we escaped unharmed. I am a big fan. E. And I used up the last of the oil this weekend in Savannah, Ga. It even keeps away pesky marsh files. I will continue to spread the word on your product. Best Regards. (D. H. -Team Nantahala, 6th place ESPN Games 1996).

Dear Folks;
Bygone Bugzz is the by-far-best. About 3 weeks ago I was with a group of 60 people exploring red-rocks park in Burly. It was muggy and there were mosquitoes galore. I held up the Lakon Bug dope and people flocked to me, all asking, "where can I buy this?" Answer. Health Food Store. Thanks Again. J.H. Shoreham, Vt.

Dear Lakon Herbals:
I was given a bottle of Bygone Bugs insect formula by a friend a couple of years ago, and I really enjoy using it. It works, it smells good and it's non-toxic…  T. L. South Portland Me.

Dear Backpacker (magazine)
I have tried them all from 100% DEET to Skin So Soft. The best stuff by far that I have found is Bygone Bugs from Lakon Herbals. I have used Bygone Bugs extensively in northern British Columbia home of the Sikorsky black fly and so many no seeums that you can see them, and it's the best non-DEET stuff around. It's also great for kids. B.F. Nanaimo, BC. Canada

I am very impressed with your product! And, would like to purchase some of it (Bygone Bugs) for my sporting goods store.
G.T. Rumford Me.

…Our experience showed that herbal DEET free repellents do work, but vary in effectiveness. Natrapel and Bygone Bugs appeared to edge out the other brands with Bug-Off a close second. …. Bygone Bugs, an aromatic blend of essential oils, had in our opinion, the most delightful fragrance of the five herbals (tested)." Natural Heath*May/June 1992

Dear Sir or Madam-
I was introduced to Bygone Bugzz during a vacation visit to Corkscrew Sanctuary in Florida and loved it! Please let me know if I can purchase your products by mail or where the nearest retailer is located. –B.O., New Rochelle, N.Y.

Dear Lakon Herbals;
Lat year I purchased the last two bottles of Bygone Bugzz from a local grocery store. The store no longer carries this product and I can’t find it anywhere. Please advise me as to where I may purchase more. Your product works great on the little black flies we have in my area!
Sincerely, D.B., Woodbury Ct.

Dear Lakon;
I am so glad to find that I can still get Bygone. I don't need any at this time, I still have a bit from last year. Whole Foods here in Hadley stopped carrying it, so i tried Burt's Bees repellent. The oil is thick (unpleasant for me) and the mosquitoes happily land on it. A salesperson (at a different store where I tried to find Bygone) acknowledged the fact that mosquitoes do land on skin covered with Burt's B's repellent, but, she said they don't bite. I don't want them to land on me!

My husband and I took the Bygone to India with us a few years ago, I was so happy to have a product that felt good, smelled good and worked. I loved the claim on your label that the product was tested in swampy areas and was effective for 20 minutes to (what?) 3 hours. I loved the honesty. Thank you so much! Pamela
