There have been many articles written about Bygone Bugs since it came on the market in 1986. The most recent can be found on NBC4.COM, JULY 2007 (http://www.nbc4.com/consumer/13657929/detail.html) in which entomologist Mike Raupp gave his report of the U.S. Department of Agriculture analysis of natural mosquito repellants. Raup states in this article that many [natural repellents] really do work. If you want [approx] two hours protection, Raupp said, try Gone by Aubrey Organics or Bygone Bugz from Lakon Herbals. For two to five hours, Raupp said, try Natrapel Plus. Bite Blocker and Repel lemon eucalyptus give five to eight hours of protection.
"I was a bit surprised that some of these natural compounds seemed to be working just as well as some of the DEET compounds," Raupp said. "I was truly, genuinely surprised. It's good news, I think."
*Mike Raupp is a respected entomologist, with more than 25 years of research to his credit and three major studies under way in his university lab, Raupp is chair of his department at the University of Maryland. Lakon's Comment: At the time of this article Mike Raupp had tested a 2006 bottle of Bygone that did not contain Lemon Eucalpytus.

Dear Lakon Herbals:
Thank you for calling back to confirm my order for 6 bottles of
Bygone Bugz. My family and I were so thrilled to find Lakon Herbals
and your incredible product again! Not only is it the SAFEST product
on the market, but it is also the most EFFECTIVE one, as well. The
only times my family and I suffered insect bites were when we ran
out of Bygone Bugz.
You mentioned that it is difficult to get the word out about your
products. In addition to publications such as The Green Guide, and
Mothering, maybe some of the "mainstream" baby magazines
would offer a forum - a smaller one, but at least some exposure in
which to advertise your products. New parents are sometimes willing
to become more health-educated after their children arrive! Even
local health food stores...I know it's difficult to find many at one
time. Two in my area might be interested. Health Hut in Valley
Stream, NY and Jandi in Oceanside, NY. Jandi's owner is pretty
receptive to new ideas. I've bought several insect repellents there
after running out of yours, each time describing to her what I
REALLY hoped to find on the shelves was Bygone Bugs.
Anyway, best of luck and I'm sure you'll be hearing from us
again! Thank you,
M.M. 6/30/99

Dear Lakon:
The Bygone Bugz product saved the day for the team Nantahala. The
bugs were so bad as I've ever seen them. While most teams were
getting eaten alive or wearing bug mesh clothing we escaped
unharmed.
I am a big fan. E. and I used up the last of the oil this weekend in
Savanah, Ga. It even keeps away pesky marsh files.
I will continue to spread the word on your product. Best Regards.
(D. H. -Team Nantahala, 6th place ESPN Games 1996).

Dear Folks;
Bygone Bugz is the by-far-best. About 3 weeks ago I was with a group
of 60 people exploring red-rocks park in Burly. It was muggy and
there were mosquitoes galore. I held up the Lakon Bug dope and
people flocked to me, all asking, "where can I buy this?".
Answer. Health Food Store. Thanks Again. J.H. Shoreham, Vt.

Dear Lakon Herbals:
I was given a bottle of Bygone Bugs insect formula by a friend a
couple of years ago, and I really enjoy using it. It works, it
smells good and it's non-toxic… T. L. South Portland Me.

Dear Backpacker (magazine)
I have tried them all from 100% DEET to Skin So Soft. The best stuff
by far that I have found is Bygone Bugs from Lakon Herbals. I have
used Bygone Bugs extensively in northern British Columbia home of
the Sikorsky blackfly and so many no seeums that you can see them,
and it's the best non-DEET stuff around. It's also great for kids.

…Our experience showed that
herbal DEET free repellents do work, but vary in effectiveness.
Natrapel and Bygone Bugs appeared to edge out the other brands with
Bug-Off a close second. ….Bygone Bugs, an aromatic blend of
essential oils, had in our opinion, the most delightful fragrance of
the five herbals (tested)." Natural Heath*May/June 1992

Dear Lakon Herbals;
Lat year I purchased the last two bottles of Bygone Bugzz from a local grocery store. The store no longer carries this product and I can’t find it anywhere. Please advise me as to where I may purchase more.
Your product works great on the little black flies we have in my area!
Sincerely, D.B., Woodbury Ct.
